Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to bring in some of his top targets over the summer after admitting that Manchester United have already identified players they want to sign.
United are set to have a complete summer revamp after a disastrous season that saw Jose Mourinho axed midway through, Solskjaer eventually appointed on a permanent basis after a fine run as temporary boss and then a complete capitulation come the end of the campaign.
Several stars are expected to leave, including the likes of Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian, with top names targeted as United look to force their way back into the running for the Champions League places next season.
And Solskjaer admitted that he has a busy summer ahead, when speaking at his press conference for the final game of the season against Cardiff on Sunday: “Of course it is big. There are players whose contracts have run out, some players will definitely come in, some young players will come in.
“We have worked since I came in with the club, recruitment. We have identified some players who we think will fit the squad, our squad, Let’s hope we can get some over the line.”
Solskjaer also admitted that he is not necessarily looking at ready-made replacements, adding: “Next season, we have got to close that gap. If we manage to get to February or March (in title race) then fantastic.
“Ronaldo was never ready made, Rooney never was. Loads of players come here and then develop into the top superstars they become.”

Meanwhile, an announcement is expected soon on the future of midfielder Herrera, who could make his final appearance for the club against the Bluebirds.
Solskjaer added: “Ander, he might play, we haven’t picked the team. He will probably announce himself later on where he is going to continue his football.”
Valencia is another who will be on his way after 10 years at Old Trafford, and Solskjaer is hoping to be able to give the Ecuador star a nice send-off.
“I spoke to Antonio yesterday, he has not been fit the six or five months I’ve been here, but he feels he can play a part. I hope he gets through today and tomorrow and we can give him a nice send off. It is only fair.”
