Klopp reveals the three big words in Liverpool dressing room this week

Jurgen Klopp has revealed the three big words in the Liverpool dressing room this week ahead of Sunday’s Premier League finale.

The Reds did the improbable at Anfield on Tuesday night – overturning a 3-0 first-leg defeat to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League semi-final, and on Sunday they host Wolves with a shot at the Premier League title.

Man City are in the box seat and will retain the title with a win at Brighton, but a slip out from City could hand the Reds their first title for 29 years, if they win at Anfield.

Klopp’s men managed to sink Barcelona without Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson, while Andy Robertson was subbed at half-time after receiving a knock.

Asked about the trio, Klopp said: “The famous three words in the dressing room this week – ‘It’s only pain.’

“If I had to find a very short description for the group I would say ‘it’s only pain.’

“That’s what they’ve been through this season. It’s only pain. Let’s carry on.”

The German coach confirmed Mohamed Salah will train today and said Salah, Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson should all be fine to face Wolves.

Asked about Roberto Firmino, Klopp said: “Not for the weekend.

“Tuesday was one of the best moments in football history, not just Liverpool. But now it’s about Sunday. Wolves will want to show that they are not passengers. We need to be ready.”

“The week is not over yet. Sunday counts too. Of course we go for that. Nothing changed really. We knew it before, it’s all good.

“Most people expected me to sit here today and say ‘not in the Champions League final and now it’s difficult to be Premier League champion’.

“Now we are in the CL final and it’s still difficult to be PL champion.”

Klopp is wary of the threat Wolves pose and says their focus must be on winning the game and not the result at Brighton.

“Wolves have played good football and are sensational counter-attacking,” Klopp added.

“They stay calm and composed and Nuno is doing an incredible job there. That makes our game pretty difficult.

“Brighton, on the other side, it’s their last game of the season.

“They play joyful football. Both teams need to win their games.”
