Police operatives attached to Ibafo Division of Ogun state Police command have arrested two suspected armed robbers on Thursday 14 April, 2016 at about 2240hrs, while on patrol along the notorious long bridge towards Isheri end of Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, caught in the act, three suspected armed robbers who were robbing some road users in front of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry.
The robbers, who actually escaped when they sighted police operatives, were chased by the police but it took the intervention of a moving trailer to bring them to a halt.
The armed robbers were seriously wounded before they were eventually arrested alive.
The suspects are Sola Bilaminu, and Ibrahim Sandi, of no fixed address while the third person managed to escape.
The police were able to recover stolen items from them including their operational motorcycle and items taken from victims.
Some victims have since been identified and their stolen items returned to them.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali has commended the police operatives for their commitment and dedication to duty, and directed that the suspects be transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Magbon, Abeokuta for thorough investigation.
CP Ali also directed that the expressway must be adequately policed on regularly basis to protect road users who have fears of plying the expressway at night time.
Ogun Police Boss also assured the good people of Ogun State and all road users in the state of adequate security of lives and property as police teams have been detailed to police the major expressways within the state.
