Ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas says he can’t decide between his former Premier League rivals Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes.
The qualities of both former England midfielders, as well of those of Frank Lampard, have long been a subject of hot debate on social media, and so it is little surprise that they were brought up when Fabregas invited fans to a Twitter Q&A session on Monday.
The Spaniard was a regular rival of the Liverpool and Manchester United legends during his time in the Premier League, where he played for Arsenal between 2003 and 2011 and Chelsea from 2014 up until his move to Monaco last year.
When asked about the qualities of Gerrard and Scholes, Fabregas said: “Different type of players.

“I love Scholes and I think he is more my type of player but I was such a big fan of Gerrard growing up. Think it’s a tie.”
While Fabregas may have sat on the fence when it came to choosing between the pair, he was effusive in his praise of Gerrard’s beloved Liverpool and their progress under manager Jurgen Klopp, having won the Champions League last year and moved to the brink of the Premier League title this season.

His opinion of the Reds when pressed was simply: “Outstanding club that hit the jackpot hiring Klopp and giving him the right players and time to build something very special.”
Fabregas was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer of 2013, shortly after the retirement of Scholes and appointment of David Moyes as manager.
When pressed on why he never made the move to Old Trafford by a fan, he simply replied: “It wasn’t meant to be.”
