None of us are quite sure just when Liverpool’s players will be back kicking a ball again but one element of game always keeps turning and that’s the transfer rumour mill.
Here are the latest Reds-related offerings on the tittle-tattle trail.
Who?
Timo Werner, the prolific RB Leipzig striker who has netted 27 goals in all competitions this term and been linked with a move to Liverpool for many months now.
Just a few weeks ago, Jamie Carragher reckoned the player, who unfollowed his current employers on Twitter after they used a video of him to mock the Reds first Premier League defeat of the season, was “nailed on” for an Anfield switch but now he’s not so sure.
Where?
The Star – citing Bild – claim that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to meet Werner to try and convince the forward that Anfield is the ideal place to move to.
However it is reported that the Reds boss cannot currently go ahead with his plan to pow wow with his compatriot due to coronavirus with the UK in lockdown.
Werner reputedly a release clause of around £30m, however that is believed to rise in June.
What?
The key to any Werner transfer to Liverpool will surely be how comfortable he is about his prospects of playing time.
He’s used to being the main man and while he can’t expect to just waltz into the Club World Cup winners and runaway Premier League leaders and expect such status with them, he will want regular minutes and that’s the conundrum given the status of the Reds current first-choice front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
