    PFA CHIEF ANGER


    PFA Chief Executive Gordon Taylor has criticised the Government for singling out footballers over pay-cuts following the suspension of matches.


    Last week, the health secretary Matt Hancock, called for Premier League players to ‘play their part’ and take a pay cut.


    On the Keys & Grays Show on beIN SPORTS Taylor said: “I find it quite extraordinary that government doesn’t realise – and it should do because of what the game puts back into the economy – the money that football spends on its community initiatives, the tax it pays.”

    LEEDS LEGEND IN HOSPITAL


    Norman Hunter is being treated in hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus according to BBC Sport.


    The ex-England defender, who’s nickname was ‘Bites yer legs’, played 726 times during his 15-year career at Elland Road.


    Hunter, 76, was also part of Sir Alf Ramsey’s 1966 England squad.


    Leeds have put out a statement encouraging Hunter to “keep battling”.


    The club said: “We would like to take this opportunity to remind the public and the media to respect the wishes of Norman and his family and to give them the space they need during this difficult time.”

    NOU CAMP WALKOUT


    Six members of Barcelona’s board have resigned in response to their president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s handling of the club during the coronavirus crisis.


    Two of the club’s four vice-presidents – Emili Rousaud and Enrique Tomas – and four directors all walked out on Thursday evening according to La Vanguardia.


    In extracts of a letter reported to have been written by the six members they say: “We have reached this point and see no way to reverse the ways business is managed at the club ahead of important challenges in the future especially post pandemic.”


    Barca star Lionel Messi is reported to have clashed with Bartomeu over cuts to players’ salaries whilst La Liga games are on hold.

    BUG TEST


    Premier League sides are gearing up to roll out coronavirus testing machines ahead of their return to action following the lockdown.


    Daily Mirror claim clubs could look at using the equipment at their training grounds to test players for the virus on a daily basis.


    It’s hoped the process will give clubs the chance to assess their players as the consider plans to restart training, with some sides hoping to do so by mid-May.
