Newcastle United’s prospective new owners will trigger a revolution at the club and turn them into top four challengers.
Sports Direct tycoon Mike Ashley is selling up to a consortium led by financier Amanda Staveley, with the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund taking a 80 per cent stake, and the mega-rich Reuben brothers taking a piece.
Former United midfielder Jermaine Jenas, who starred for the club in the Champions League, says the Saudis will want to “make a splash” and become part of the elite again.
Jenas reckons “ambition stopped” during Mike Ashley’s tenure, and believes the operation now needs “cleansing”.
He said: “If this wealthy consortium is coming in, they are going to spend. They are not going to be bit-part players.
“They are seeing Everton making moves, Wolves making moves, and thinking we want to be part of that.
