Real Madrid are set to keep Gareth Bale for at least another season after the Spanish giants ruled out marquee signings this summer.
The former Tottenham Hotspur winger had been almost certain to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the campaign due to his uneasy relationship with boss Zinedine Zidane.
However, the Wales star had been keen to remain with the La Liga side and it now seems certain he will due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
The 30-year-old – who has two years remaining on his contract – has been told by the club that they are happy for him to stay beyond this summer, according to The Sun.

Amid a lack of match-day income and television money, Los Blancos are also financially hamstrung by their £500m stadium redevelopment.
This means no landmark signings are forecast this summer and the squad will remain largely the same going into the 2020-21 campaign.
Bale had been offered to Premier League clubs to free up funds before the crisis, but no English teams can afford his £650,000 per week wages.

The Welshman had also come close to a lucrative move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning last summer, where he was offered a monster £1m per week three-year contract – only for Real to block the move at the eleventh hour.
Bale has only scored three goals in his 18 appearances during an injury-struck season, but this unlikely lifeline created by the coronavirus outbreak presents him with an opportunity to revive his career.
