    DAYO RECKONING

Manchester United and City have joined Arsenal in the pursuit of French defender Dayot Upamecano.

The 21-year-old has been attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs, but the North London club had been making the centre-back one of their top summer priorities.

But now the RB Leipzig star is being pursued by their Prem rivals, according to Sky Sports.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been leaking goals this season after being among the top defensive units in the top flight previously.

And Upamecano would likely play alongside Harry Maguire in the heart of the United defence, making their back line among the most solid in Europe, let alone the Premier League.

    ‘GIN THE TONIC

Newcastle are reportedly poised to raid Aston Villa with a £30million bid to land United target John McGinn.

The Daily Star claim Steve Bruce is prepared to splash the cash to be reunited with the midfielder, who he signed for his former club for a measly £2.5m back in 2018.

Villa were in the Championship when the Scotland star arrived from Hibs and he was pivotal in their grandstand finish to the season that saw them win promotion through the play-offs.

Bruce had paid the price for a poor start to the campaign but after returning to the Premier League with Newcastle, is desperate to land the 25-year-old once again.

McGinn had been enjoying a fine start to his maiden season in the top-flight before he was sidelined with a broken ankle in December.

Another of Bruce’s ex-sides, Manchester United, also registered an interest in the Scotland International after he caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears more keen on fellow Villain Jack Grealish.

    BRAG OF THE NET

Playboy model Laura Bragato has revealed pal Jesse Lingard has been texting her while in lockdown.

Manchester United could reap the rewards of the midfielder’s antics as her bum is believed to be a good luck charm.

Speaking to the Daily Star from her home in Italy, she said: “I spoke to Jesse yesterday, and he is staying home like the rest of us.

“He is safe. In Italy we are all on lockdown, it’s been one month and I really hope everything is going to start again here.

“I am taking care of myself, let the stress go, I do my beauty routine every day, I watch movies and cook good Italian food, that’s all.

“When it’s over, I can’t wait to travel. I want to spend my summer in Spain and London.”

    IGHALO WILL STAY

Premier League players will be blocked from switching clubs before the delayed end of the season – even if they are out of contract.

But Fifa is considering introducing a one-off third transfer window next term – because the summer trading spell will be so short.

Fifa’s legal director, Spaniard Emilio Garcia Silvero, has admitted world chiefs cannot demand contracts that run out on June 30 be extended.

This would mean that Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo will remain at United, despite fears that he would return to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua next month.

He said: “Fifa cannot extend the contracts beyond June 30, but the transfer windows will not be the same and the players will not be able to be registered.

“It means that, contrary to the normal situation, the market will not open this year on July 1.”
