It’s a miserable time for everybody at the moment, but the sight of Grady Diangana back out on the grass with a ball at his feet ought to at least temporarily lift the gloom for West Brom fans.
Diangana ought to have been available for the run-in after suffering a set-back of his injury back in January when he hobbled off after only four minutes against Stoke.
Indeed Slaven Bilic was hopeful of adding his West Ham loanee back into the mix with Messrs Pereira, Robinson and Krovinovic as Albion look to get themselves over the promotion line.
The coronavirus pandemic, of course, means that all football is on hold for the foreseeable future, but that has given Diangana extra time to be fully fit and raring to go once clubs get the green light to resume training and conclude the campaign.
Winger Diangana has been a revelation at The Hawthorns this term, delighting supporters and dizzying defenders; throughout this period without football – which for him has been longer than most – he’s been active on social media and has shared a clip of himself with a ball at his feet.
The close control and ball skills are quite something, but the fact that Diangana is back out and about with his troubles behind him is just as pleasing for Baggies supporters who have been desperate for his return.
He had indeed joined in with training prior to the suspension of the season, but like all other professional footballers, he’s been frustrated in his efforts to make it out onto the pitch in recent weeks.
