Lille president says Everton target Gabriel among top five in Europe
Gerard Lopez has admitted that Gabriel Magalhaes is set to leave Lille in the near future, and has tipped him to play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Everton’s interest in Gabriel is clear, although according to the Lille President he has lots of offers on the table.
“It’s true that he would like to go and try something else out,” he told Sky Sports.
“We haven’t taken that decision yet, but he’s received a number of offers. I feel he’s closer to one club than others, but nothing’s done yet so we’ll see.”
Gabriel is rated extremely highly by his current employer.
“I feel he is among the top five dominant central defenders in Europe right now,” Lopez added. “His statistics, which aren’t well covered outside of France, shows that his percentage for winning duels is pretty unheard of in a league that’s extremely physical.”
Amokachi reveals extensive volunteer work in Nigeria
Everton cult hero Daniel Amokachi is helping to deliver food packages around Nigeria as part of a volunteer drive led by the government.
He has teamed up with his businessman brother to supply food parcels to be distributed by the Nigerian Red Cross around the state of Abuja.
“About 80% of people in Nigeria have to work to be paid to sustain their lives. Without work they do not eat in the evening,” he told Evertonfc.com. “We have a pass to allow us out during lockdown to deliver food and we are working practically all day.”
Amokachi played for Everton for two seasons in the 1990s, winning the FA Cup in 1995 and famously scoring twice in the semi-final against Tottenham.
Twenty five years on, he believes that his fame in Nigeria must be used to help others during the pandemic.
“But my name is old and football is a long way from my thoughts. It is what you can put on the ground from your status that they appreciate. If you are a household name, always go out and lend a hand.”

Everton target Ciro Immobile ‘in swap deal for Moise Kean’
Carlo Ancelotti will reportedly step up his pursuit of Lazio striker Ciro Immobile by offering Moise Kean as part of a deal to bring the Italian to Goodison Park, per TEAMtalk .
Immobile, who has scored 116 goals in 167 games for Lazio, is said to be happy in Rome but Everton believe Ancelotti can attract him to become a central figure in an expensive rebuild this summer.
However, Lazio want £43.5million for the 30-year-old, so the Toffees have reportedly made enquiries to see if the Italian club would be interested in taking Kean.
