MANCHESTER UNITED are gearing up for a big summer in the transfer market.

    WILF CLOSES DOOR

United and Arsenal target Wilfred Ndidi has insisted he has no intention of leaving Leicester.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mikel Arteta have both looked at adding the 23-year-old defensive midfielder to their ranks.

But that now looks out of the question after the Foxes ace, so influential in getting them to third in the table before the coronavirus lockdown, revealed he is happy at the King Power.

The Nigeria star told ESPN: “We are doing well and I am enjoying myself here. I still have a contract with Leicester.

“I am learning and trying to improve myself every day and I am doing okay here so no need to go anywhere.”

    ‘PAY DAY IN OFFING

Memphis Depay’s Lyon future is up in the air after contract talks stalled.

The former Manchester United winger has just one year left to run on his contract with the Ligue 1 club.

And Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed they are desperately trying to sort out an extension.

Speaking to the club website, Aulas said: “We work on it every day. I have a lot of personal contact with him.

“We have made a number of proposals to him, but he has not yet given a definite answer.

“So we don’t have an agreement yet, but there is no question of a break in the negotiations.”

    PREM PUZZLE

Premier League players who went abroad during the UK lockdown could find themselves in a two-week quarantine headache.

Clubs are hoping to be able to start recalling their stars to training, initially for individuals and then small group sessions before full team training can resume.

And according to the Daily Mail, teams have informed players they should be available within 48 hours.

However, several players were given permission to head back home when the season was suspended on March 13.

That includes Brazilian pair Willian and Fernandinho, who are understood to still be in South America.

But the Government are planning to step up their measures for travellers arriving in the UK by placing them in quarantine for up to 14 days.

    KOUL HEADS OVER BID

Newcastle have “made contact” with United target Kalidou Koulibaly over a move, according to reports.

A Saudi consortium’s £300million bid for the Premier League club is set to be approved by top-flight bosses anytime now.

And it appears the first thing to be done once it is given the all clear is go for the Napoli defender United have long been linked to.

The Daily Mail cite a report from Foot Mercato that says 28-year-old Koulibaly – who will see his £90m valuation drop significantly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic – has already heard from Toon transfer chiefs.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is prepared to sell the Senegalese centre-back – who is said to be “unconvinced” about a move to Paris Saint-Germain – but will demand a figure just under £70m.

That is still £30m more than Newcastle’s record fee, which was the £40m they paid for Joelinton last July.

    DEAD WOOD OUT

Let’s recap on last night’s back page story…

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be forced into a major clear out to boost his end of season transfer kitty.

And that could include cashing in on Paul Pogba if a sizeable offer comes in for the French World Cup winner.

Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward warned on Friday that the coronavirus pandemic is going to severely restrict transfer budgets.

Solskjaer remains interested in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish – although a move for Harry Kane has been ruled out.

However the Old Trafford boss may need to sell the likes of Pogba and Chris Smalling if he wants to make significant changes to his squad.

Others who could be sold to generate funds include Marcos Rojo, Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira – all of whom should command interest.
