An employee at the Safeway distribution center in Tracy has died due to coronavirus complications, the company said Wednesday. “We were saddened to learn that an associate at our Tracy Distribution Center has passed away due to complications related to COVID-19,” Safeway said in a statement to KCRA 3. “Our hearts are heavy, and our thoughts are with that associate’s family. This is difficult for the entire Safeway team.”Safeway officials had confirmed at least one case of COVID-19 at the Tracy distribution center on April 7. It is unclear how many employees have tested positive for the virus at the location.
