The speculation relating to the future of Maurizio Sarri, when it comes to continuing his tenure as the manager of Chelsea Football Club, continues to generate media column inches.

The Italian, who led Chelsea to yet another piece of silverware, continues to be linked with a move to the Serie A club, Juventus.

Today, those rumours continue with the BBC reporting that the Italian, when it comes to his native Italy, is homesick.

Pushed on the subject, Sarri is quoted as having remarked:

“For us Italians the call of home is strong.

“I feel that something is missing. It has been a heavy year. I begin to feel the weight of distant friends and elderly parents I rarely see.

“But at my age, I only make professional choices. I won’t be able to work for 20 years. It’s hard work, the bench.”

Is that the strongest indication yet that Sarri is set to leave?

I believe so, at 60-years-of-age, life away from his native Italy might not be as inviting as life in his settled and familiar surroundings.

But, having led Napoli, would a return to another Serie A club, cause problems with those fans that still worship him?

Sarri has a response to that suggestion, further adding:

“The Neapolitans know the love I feel for them. I chose to move abroad last year and not to go on an Italian team.

“The relationship will not change. Loyalty is giving 110% when you are there. What does it mean to be faithful?”

Not a lot in the modern game I’d suggest.

Personally, I’d not be that surprised if Sarri was gone by the end of the month, the vibes I’m currently feeling do nothing to sway me from that opinion.

But I could be wrong, what’s your view on the ongoing scenario?
