MANCHESTER UNITED may have the money to fund big-money moves but they are also at risk of losing some of their biggest stars.

With Paul Pogba linked with a move away almost every day, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to dip into the market to replace him – while also improving the squad following their lacklustre season.

MANCHESTER CITY have put the pressure on United in the hunt for Portugal Under-21 midfielder Joao Felix by reportedly offering Benfica £106million.

Such a bid would trigger the release clause for a 19-year-old who has also been eyed by Real Madrid and Juventus.

Felix hops to make his senior international debut in Wednesday’s Nations League semi-final against Switzerland in Porto.

MANCHESTER UNITED are close to landing Swansea speedster Daniel James after hearing Monaco were also keen, according to reports.

London’s Evening Standard say United hope to nab the Wales winger, 21, for around £10million.

The Championship Swans want twice that sum but James is entering the final year of his contract.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be anxious to complete a deal soon now that Monaca are sniffing around too.

STRIFE begins at 42 for Liverpool and Manchester United.

Saturday’s 2-0 win over Spurs in the Champions League final put Liverpool level with their biggest rivals – traditionally – at the top of the trophy-winning tree for English clubs.

So now the rivalry will really hot up as Reds’ chief Jurgen Klopp insists Euro glory is just the start for a team he claims will only get better, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will spend his first pre-season as United boss revamping their squad.

Liverpool and United are well clear in the silverware table, with Arsenal on 30, 24 for Chelsea and Aston Villa at 20.

So who’s really summit special when comparing the two peak achieving clubs?

That depends how you value each competition, particularly the domestic top-flight and Europe’s top club tournament.

Liverpool have been English champions 18 times and Euro kings on six occasions.

United head the top-flight list on 20 but have won the European Cup or Champions League just three times.

THOMAS PARTEY’S dad has revealed that the Atletico Madrid midfielder is keen on a move to England amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder enjoyed another impressive season for Diego Simeone’s side during the 2018/19 campaign – chipping in with three goals in 42 games.

Speaking to Enigye FM, Hon Adjiingo said: “I personally told him to move on, if he is not wanted at where he is right now.

“Because he might be wanted at somewhere else and so he will like to move to England if he gets the chance.”

Partey – who has a release clause of just £43.5million – is tied down at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2023.

The player has refused to rule out a move away in the summer as he recently admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds.

He told BBC Sport: “It’s hard for me to talk about transfers because the next minute it will be like ‘Thomas is trying to leave’ but for me playing football is what makes me happy.

“I keep saying I am lucky to be at this level now because I know people who play harder and work harder than me but are nowhere close to being here.

“I don’t know what the future holds for me but as long as I play and they are happy with me here then there is no need flirting with others.”
