Arsenal and Man Utd target Thomas Meunier makes transfer decision - Mirror Online


Manchester United and Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Thomas Meunier after he declared his intentions to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.


The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes with both United and Arsenal keen on his signature.


Former PSG boss, Unai Emery, is understood to be particularly interested on signing the right-back for the Gunners.


The Belgian is entering the final year of his current deal with the French giants, which means he could leave on a free transfer next summer.


However, Meunier is understood to want to extend his stay in Paris.

In an recent interview with Dutch broadcasters VTM Nieuws, he said: “I want to stay.


“We have been talking about a contract extension for a while, but there’s no offer on the table anymore.


‘I’m ready to stay in Paris. Everybody knows.”


Reports had previously suggested that PSG were open to the sale of Meunier for around £22million.




The right-back made 31 appearances in all competitions last season

Meunier played a starring role in Belgium’s 2018 World Cup campaign, featuring in seven of their eight games in the competition and helped his country to victory over England in the third place play-off.


Last season the Belgium international made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists.


Since Meunier joined the French champions from Belgian side Club Brugge in 2016, he has made just over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
