Manchester United fans are keeping a very close eye on all things Matthijs de Ligt this summer transfer window.
The Holland international looks certain to leave his boyhood club Ajax, and has been most heavily linked with moves to Manchester United and Barcelona.
The latter are expected to win the race, given they can offer the teenager Champions League football and the chance to compete for a title in his first season.
But United have reportedly offered the youngster more cash, and are still very much in the race to land the Ajax captain, who guided the Amsterdam-based club to the Champions League semi final this campaign.

De Ligt recently addressed his future in an interview with RTL Boulevard.
The Dutchman said: “I am very excited about what the nearest future may bring me, but I am also calm, I see it as a challenge, that is the most important thing.”
“There are several options, what I do is to see which is the best option, it seems logical that one option is better than the other.”
De Ligt added: “It could be difficult, but I am a normal Dutchman, I am not very different from the rest, maybe abroad everything will be more intense.”

Manchester United fans have been reacting to the interview on social media, and one word from it has apparently caught their eye.
De Ligt’s use of the word “challenge” has many of them suggesting he could be referring to what would be awaiting him at Old Trafford should he sign for United.
One Red Devils fan tweeted: “Did he just say challenge? Means it’s United. I don’t think there is any bigger challenge in world football than playing for United.”

Another added: “Man United right now is a challenge bro… welcome,” and a third said: “No bigger challenge than organising Ashley Young and the rest of our defence Matthijs mate.”
A fourth wrote: “Joining United is a challenge indeed! Welcome Matthijs de Ligt!!” and a fifth concluded: “Challenge equals United, logical equals Barcelona”.
