So a really flat ending to what looked like it was going to be a glorious evening for England after Marcus Rashford had given them a first half lead from the penalty spot.
Holland hit back in the second half and deservedly equalised through De Ligt’s header. Jesse Lingard thought he’d put England through to the final but his late finish was ruled out by VAR for a marginal but correct offside decision.
In extra time, Gareth Southgate’s boys folded with two shocking mistakes by Stones and Barkley, literally handing the Dutch the goals that see them through to Sunday’s final against Portugal.
For England, it will be a familiar third-place play off game against the Swiss on Sunday.

I can’t stop thinking about that half of Lingard’s boot that was offside.
Without that, his late strike would have stood and England would be in the final.
