Jurgen Klopp has revealed the key factor which has got Liverpool to within touching distance of a brilliant double this season.
A slip up from Man City could see Liverpool crowned Premier League champions this week, as long at Klopp’s men beat Wolves at Anfield, while three weeks’ time will see the Reds in the Champions League final against Tottenham.
Klopp labelled his side “giants of mentality” after their remarkable 4-0 win semi-final over Barcelona in midweek, and on Friday at Melwood he was asked what separates his side from the best of the rest.
Klopp said: “The readiness to deal with problems and difficulties in a game. That’s how it is because we have a specific plan for a game and it never works out 100 per cent. But to stick to the plan is really important.
“The relationship between us has got better and better and better.
“Our experiences, how we dealt with moments when it was not that beautiful, the boys did a consistent job.
“Being consistent is the most difficult thing in a footballer’s life. There are a lot of good footballers out there but to be consistent week-in, week-out is really difficult.
“How can we get 94 points until this point with having a random bunch of players?
“We don’t have that. We have a really special group.”
Klopp emphasised in his news conference that Liverpool still have to go out and beat Wolves – a side he has great respect for.
Asked if he was worried by Liverpool fans’ reactions to Man City’s game at Brighton, Klopp added: “No, it’s completely normal.
“A bit of advice for our supporters: They should not celebrate the result at Brighton until they are 3-0 up with 88 minutes gone.
“All the rest is information and nothing else.
“Our people are so smart though they did so well over the years. That’s life, we will not say it’s not allowed but we are human beings and will react to it however, but the best thing would be to read our game because that is the only thing we have influence on.”
