Manchester United are reportedly set to fail in their bid to sign Joao Felix – despite a proposal worth over £100m.
The Portuguese wonderkid is in-demand with top European clubs after a stunning breakthrough season but has a £105m release clause putting off potential suitors.
According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha , United are planning a proposal which will meet the value of the release clause – but not in one go.
They are plotting a deal with an initial fee of £80m with additional clauses which could see the fee rise over £100m.
The report claims United will sell two of their star players and reinvest the money in Felix – but Benfica president Luis Filipe Viera does not intend to accept.
