National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Supo Ayokunle says Nigerian Christians are under siege.

Ayokunle, who spoke last night at the Reedemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG’s) Convention at the Redemption Ground, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, said incessant attack on Christians in the country by terrorists and others had made them to be under siege.

He said there had never been a time Nigerian Christians were under siege than now and called on Christians to pray for the survival of Christianity in the country.

Ayokunle said no matter how Christians were persecuted, the gate of hell would not prevail against the church.

“Nigerian Christians are under siege. Christianity has never been under siege than now. Christians all over the world are under siege as terrorists are everywhere. The gate of hell cannot prevail against the church, we will stand resolutely,” he said.

According to Ayokunle, there was the need for prayer for CAN as the prayer of Nigerian Christians would go a long way to salvage the association.

“Britain won war a long time ago because the Queen Elizabeth called for prayers. Pray for the body of Christ in Nigeria. We will not be history in Nigeria,” he said.

Ayokunle also called for donation for CAN as the body had resolved not to look to those in government for finance in order to salvage the integrity of the association.

Meanwhile, the total number of children born at ghe RCCG convention stood at 89 as at Friday. This includes 53 boys and 33 girls.

Dignitaries at the event are: Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo; Governors Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom). There are also the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Yetunde Onanuga; Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Kola Oluwole, among others.
