The re-run senatorial election for Imo North on Saturday recorded an impressive turnout of voters, some of them arriving at the polling units as early as 7.30 a.m.

Agency report revealed that in Isiala Mbano and Okigwe local government areas, INEC officials brought in their materials at 9.45 a.m. amidst heavy police presence.

Accreditation commenced at 10 a.m. in some of the polling stations with the card reader in use and functioning.

However, at Community Secondary School, Amaraku in Isiala Mbano Ward (1) PU 003, the exercise started by 11.50 a.m. with heavy security presence.

The INEC staff in the place attributed the slight delay to logistic challenges.

Meanwhile, the exercise has been peaceful and orderly.

At PU OO3 Amaku Ihube, the card reader was not working, leaving the voters stranded and confused.

The INEC official said they might resort to manual accreditation if the card reader failed to work.
