– Jennifer, 28, who is a stammer surprises guests at her wedding
– The beautiful bride read her self composed vows
A childhood stammer, Jennifer Vaughan who used to struggle to say her name surprised her wedding guests when she read her personally written vows on her big day.
Jennifer faced playground bullies and felt suicidal during her battle with the speech problem which started first when she was five after her parents’ marriage broke down. But after enrolling on a speech therapy course and meeting her partner Ashley, she finally said the word she never thought she would say – “I do”.
“Getting married was something I always told myself I didn’t want to because I couldn’t say my own name, how was I meant to say my vows?” She said.

“But Ashley convinced me I wanted to and I realized I should take the opportunity to stand up in front of all the people I love and give a speech- because I finally could.”
“I was much nervous about the speech than actually getting married. But I was so glad I did it. It was something I never even dreamed of.”
Ashley was brimming with pride during the ten minute address, which saw Jenifer open the speech by joking: “I’d like to thank my husband for having a surname that I can say.”
She told the crowd that her speech has plagued her for a very long time until she met Ash and it was never an issue again. And at times when I give up on myself, he will give the courage to keep moving forward”.
Some days she couldn’t say her name and even thought about ending her life through frustration.
“And as I got older, my stammer got worst. People would tease me and I got to the point where I didn’t want to leave the house anymore.”
Congratulations to the happy couple.
