Sequel to the protest by students of the University of Port Harcourt today, the University Senate has shut down the University for one month.

The shut down is with immediate effect and the school management has ordered all students to vacate the campuses of the institution before 6:00 pm today.

The directive was contained in statement signed by Dr. Williams Wodi, a deputy Registrar Information and spokesman of the university this evening.

He said all students are expected to vacate the campuses accommodation and other facilities.

The Senate has also suspended all students union activities and their affiliate unions with immediate effect for at least one month.
