10.18 am: The Senate President and his supporters, mostly Senators and political cronies from Kwara State are already inside the court room of the Code of Conduct Tribunal waiting for proceedings to commence.
The Senate President came in at about 10:00 a.m.
Justice Danladi Umar and his partners are yet to come in.
But from all indications, the trial proper may not begin as Saraki and his lawyers will ask the judge to stay action pending their appeals over jurisdiction, pursuing the same course of rigmarole at the start of the case last year.
Umar had fixed today as trial date after dismissing the objection raised by Saraki’s lead lawyer, Kanu Agabi, a former justice minister and attorney-general.
