An Octogenarian facing trial at Igbosere Magistrate’s court over a N40m land scam threatened to sue the victim for N200m for taking him to court and the newspapers for reporting the scam.
Pa Adeola Ajidahun, 88, made the threat in the open court provoking laughter.
Ajidahun, was charged with defrauding Kehinde Ola to the tune of N30m under the false pretence of selling some plots of land at the Lekki resettlement scheme in Lagos. In another court, the old man also faces a separate charge for defrauding Tony Ezeoke to the tune of N10m under the same false pretence.
His arrest followed a petition by Ola to Police Special Fraud Unit after Ola discovered that the land sold to him belonged to another family.
The land Ajidahun also sold to Ezeoke did not belong to him because the place was earmarked for road by the Lagos State government.
After the investigation, the police charged Ajidahun. He was remanded in prison custody when he could not fulfil the bail condition.
When the matter last came up, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Owogboro referred the case to Alternative Dispute Resolution for resolution.
It was after Magistrate Owogboro made the order that Ajidahun flared and threatened to sue the complainants
Ajidahun who had earlier taunted the complainants that he will soon die and they will not recover their money threatened that he might not show up at ADR for settlement.
Ajidahun was not the only person involved in the alleged land scam.
Pastor Felix Fadare of the Redeemed Church of God was also arrested and charged with Ajidahun.
The court adjourned the matter for 31 May for report of ADR which comes up on 18 and 19 May.
