Top oil producing countries have gathered in Doha, Qatar’s capital, for the meeting to discuss remedies to the lingering decline in the price of crude oil in the market.
Nigeria’s petroleum minister, Ibe Kachikwu, has also arrived in Doha where the preliminary meeting has already commenced, PM news reports.
The official of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, headed by Kachikwu, explained in a statement that the minister together with his colleagues from all over the world was considering the practicable measures to end the crisis and reach the balance between oil supply and demand.

Those expected to be in attendance at the April 17 meeting are ministers of the 12-member Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, as well as some non-OPEC member countries led by Mexico, Bahrain, Oman and Russia.
In the recent period, amid the persistent fuel scarcity, Nigerinas have been calling for the resignation of Kachikwu blaming him for the inability to resolve the crisis. Reacting to the development, the Christian Association of Nigeria expressed surprise over the attacks:
“What happens to the main minister, President Buhari? Will he also resign? I am surprised over the attack on Kachikwu by Nigerians, even those that are supposed to know better.”
