Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Florence Omagbemi has boasted that the Nigerian senior women team are ready for Senegal in the first leg of their 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations final qualifying fixture.

The match holds in Dakar, Senegal on Friday, 8 April with the second leg slated for Abuja on Tuesday, 12 April.

Omagbemi expressed confidence that the Falcons will not only scale the Senegalese hurdle, but go ahead to successfully defend their African crown in Cameroon later in the year.

“As I said before, we are the defending champions, and we just have to be really prepared so that we can remain on top. Most teams in Africa want to beat Nigeria, and we will not let that happen.”

Omagbemi told the website of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, that she was happy with the quality of players in the team after a warm up game against FC Eaglenet of Lugbe, Abuja at the Package B of the FIFA Goal Project, which the Falcons won 1-0.

“The way we are now, we are ready for Senegal. We are ready to go in there and do our best. The pool of players we have in camp now, if any of them is called upon to play, I am very sure that player will deliver, ” the former Nigerian international said.

Meanwhile, the NFF has confirmed that the Falcons will fly out of the country on Tuesday, 5 April for the first leg of the match against Senegal.

Senegal ousted Guinea in the earlier round and their reward is a two –leg confrontation with the African champions, Nigeria, with the winners earning a slot at the 10th Africa Women Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon later this year.
