The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said it received a total of 1,536 complaints from both domestic and international air passengers in the first quarter of 2016.
This is contained in a document obtained by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday from the Consumer Protection Department of NCAA in Lagos.
The document indicated that 1,520 complaints were received from passengers flying international routes while 16 were received from passengers on domestic routes.
It stated that 1,082 of such cases were successfully resolved with compensation paid by airlines to the affected passengers during the period under review.
Mr Sam Adurogboye, General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, in an interview with NAN, said that the agency was committed to the protection of the rights of passengers.
He advised passengers to always address their complaints to NCAA’s Consumer Protection Unit domiciled at airport terminals and avoid taking laws into their hands.
