Corp members serving as staff for INEC
Ahead of the keenly watched and contested re-run election in three senatorial districts, 12 federal constituencies and 22 state constituencies in Rivers state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recruited the services of 24,930 ad-hoc staff, 379 collation officers and 37 returning officers for the elections.
The electoral body is conducting a re-run election in three senatorial districts, 12 federal constituencies and 22 state constituencies on Saturday, March 19, in compliance with the appeal tribunal which nullified the earlier polls.

Also, the Nigeria Police has deployed 6,000 personnel to Rivers state ahead of the re-run election.
The inspector general of police, Mr Solomon Arase, reiterated that the deployment became necessary because of the already tensed security situation in the state.
According to police boss, the Police Intelligence Unit has identified areas with major security threats as well as some individuals.
