Burundian club, Vital’O have threatened to shock Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba, ahead of a CAF Champions League first round crunch tie between both teams.


Enyimba play host to the Burundian champions today, March 13, but the East Africans have declared they are in town for serious business.

Speaking to newsmen, striker of Vital’O, Rugonumugabo Stephane said: “We arrived in Nigeria no to make up the numbers, our intention is clear. It’s either we win or draw.


“There is nothing like favourite tag in this one. Like I said earlier our mission will be well mapped out.


“I hope that luck is on our side when we play the match.


“We are aware that Enyimba have won two CAF Champions League trophies in the past.


“We will accord them the respect that they deserve but we don’t fear them.”


But in a swift reaction, Farriel Allaputa, media officer to Enyimba told Naij.com sports that his team is unmoved by Vital’O threats.


He said: “We have no injury worries and the boys are ready for the game.







“I heard about Vital’O threats we are unconcerned by their statements. We know what we have to do as a team to win.”

Farriel Allaputa urged supporters of the club to come out en masse to support the home team as the gate will be thrown open for the crunch tie.


He added that there will be no sale of tickets for the game as it is totally free.


Naij.com recalls that Enyimba secured a narrow 2-1 aggregate win against Ugandan outfit, Vipers Sports Club in the preliminary round.


The game between Enyimba and Vital’O comes up at 4pm Nigeria time, today, March 12 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.
