An unnamed woman in Benue state has been reported to have delivered six stillborn babies.
The woman was said to be the wife of a former Vigilante group leader in the state. She was about four months pregnant when she was reported to have had abdominal pain and went into labor.
She delivered six set of stillborn babies in a private clinic she was rushed to.

The clinic was said to be in Tse-Agberagba, Konshisha local government Area of the state.
Losing a baby is traumatic for many people, most people don’t know how to cope emotionally or physically when this happens. Babies born prematurely could be referred to as stillborn. Stillbirths occur given that the babies were born at or after 24 weeks of pregnancy. While stillbirths may not be common, they are not rare.
Stillbirths may occur as a result of many reasons. The baby might have died in the uterus or womb as a result of infection, lifestyle, age, infection, mother’s health and genetic factors.

Toyin Saraki, wife of the Senate President recently shared her personal experience on stillbirth in a bid to create awareness on the occurrence across the country. The ugly experience inspired her to co-author a report in the Lancet ‘Ending Preventable Stillbirths’ Series titled: “Stillbirths: Economic and psycho-social consequences.”
