The big readings on the US services sector during February are being released this morning.
Markit Economics’s services purchasing manager’s index (PMI) came in at 49.7. It showed that services activity fell for the first time since October 2013.
It had been expected to print at 50, right on the divide between expansionary and contractionary territory, according to Bloomberg.
At 10 a.m., ISM’s non-manufacturing composite is due, and is expected at 53.1, down from 53.5.
“This would come after three months of falls in the index,” Societe Generale’s Michala Marcussen wrote in a morning note. “Recent woes in manufacturing have had some spillover to the services sector but we believe that the worst has passed.”
