– His speech came amid the ongoing political tension between Amaechi and current governor Nyesom Wike
Former Rivers state governor and current transport minister Rotimi Amaechi has gone on the campaign trail in the lead up to the rerun election in the state.
Amaechi was spotted speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in the Gokana local government area of Rivers state.
He called on the people of Rivers to match the federal government’s commitment to the recently released UNEP report by voting for APC candidates in the upcoming rerun elections.
Amaechi called on the people rivers to put their trust in the federal government
Amaechi also announced that nearly N200 trillion will be granted by the federal government to clear up Ogoni land.
According to the findings of the UNEP report Ogoni land and other parts of southern Nigerian have been devastated by oil flares and leaks.

Speaking at a town hall meeting earlier in the day, Amaechi introduced APC candidate Andre Uchendu who promised to improve crucial socio-economic infrastructure in Etche local government area.
The federal minister then made a solemn pledge to ensure the security of voters during the upcoming elections.

Amaechi’s speech comes amid the ongoing tension between himself and the current Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike.
Wike recently sensationally accused Amaechi of plotting with the Nigerian military to rig the upcoming rerun elections.
