Achief priest (Ohen-Ogba) of Aruogba village, a community in Oredo local government area of Edo state, Pa Clifford Omosomwan, has been reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
According to family sources, the late chief priest who was said to be partially blind, was allegedly shot on his head at his residence on Thursday at about 1am.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Edo State Police Command, DSP Abiodun Osifo, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
The assistant head of the community, Goodluck Uwumahongie, was beheaded in January 2015, during a crisis at the community over sale of land.
The assailants then made away with the severed head which is yet to be recovered even though the victim has been buried.
At least 10 other persons were killed during the crisis while several houses, vehicles and motorcycles were set ablaze.
