Twin bombing attacks in Baghdad market kill at least 24

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi officials say back-to-back bombings in an outdoor market in eastern Baghdad have killed at least 24 people.

A police officer says a bomb went off Sunday afternoon in the Shiite district of Sadr City. Minutes later, a suicide bomber blew himself up amid the crowd that had gathered at the site of the first bombing, he added.

He said at least 52 other people were wounded.

A medical official confirmed the causality figures. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.
