The Police at Iju division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria have arrested a seven-man robbery gang including two female within 12 hours after attacking Opracini hotel situated at 16, Fatai Close Balogun, Iju Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos state.
PNEWS investigation revealed that the robbers came to the hotel around 3:00am on Tuesday 23 February, 2016 pretending to be lodgers which gave them easy access to the hotel.
Our correspondent further learnt that on getting inside the hotel the robbers robbed customers in the hotel and also made away with one jeep.
Luck however ran out on them when the CCTV installed in the hotel revealed their identities and the police went after them and two of them were arrested.
Their informant Afolabi Akeem was said to have gone to Infinity hotel in Old Oko-Oba Agege to survey the hotel and requested for 20 rooms with a promise to pay N1.9million.
The director of the hotel asked the manager to bring him to his office and after questioning him the director called on members of Odua people Congress OPC who immediately arrested him and upon investigation he confessed that he actually came to survey the hotel, he also told the OPC about the night robbery incident at Balogun.
Shortly after his revelation, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Iju Mr. Nwachukwu Eburuaja SP sent his anti-robbery team to go and bring him from Oko-Oba.
The stolen jeep was later recovered at Alapere area of Ketu and handed over to the owner.
The suspects were identified as Wole Adesina 37, Chibuzor Okpara 27, Ogbogo Amedu 27, Ajayi Ayomide 24, Afolabi Akeem 22, Adebayo Kemi 27 and Sunday Onilowo 27.
When PMNEWS visited the station the DPO declined to comment on the incident saying he had already transferred the suspects to the Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad SARS Ikeja for further investigation.
