Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has said the establishment of Modular Refineries will not only create jobs for teeming unemployed youths but will make petroleum products available and at affordable rates.
Speaking when members of Wright Global Group led by Chief Wellington Okirika paid him a courtesy call in Asaba Friday, Governor Okowa endorsed the establishment of Modular Refineries in the state.
Members of Wright Global Group are investors who were in the state to establish Modular Refineries in Escravos and Koko.
According to Governor Okowa, establishing the refineries in the oil-rich riverine communities will make the refineries close to sources of raw materials and also, provide job opportunities for Deltans.
“Modular refinery will provide jobs for our people, it will bring job opportunities close to the people and also bring the product close to the people, and the products would be brought to the market at a reasonable rate,” he said, asserting, “we will support this partnership especially, with the fact that it will provide jobs for our people and you are providing the funding 100 per cent.”
He added, “it is our hope that everything works, the government of Nigeria is also supporting the establishment of modular refineries because that is the right way to go; Delta State is largely peaceful and we are working very hard to ensure that our youths are employed for our investors to have an enabling environment to work; we are investor-friendly people and we will give you the best of support we can give to you as a state government.”
Mr Isaac Wright, Managing Director of Wright Global Group said his organization would provide 100 per cent funding for the Modular Refineries at no cost to government, disclosing that 300 to 400 million dollars would be spent on the projects which would be completed in a couple of years.
