TOWARDS A GREAT LEAP IN POWER GENERATION…An aerial view of the ongoing construction work on the 700 MW Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Project on Kaduna River, Niger State during an inspection tour by the Hon. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN as part of the nationwide inspection , verification and fact finding tour of the Ministry’s Projects on Tuesday , 16 February 2016. The Zungeru Reservoir is located immediately at the downstream of the Shiroro Reservoir for a total storage capacity of 11,700 billion cubic meter of water at elevation 230 masl. Zungeru shall become the second largest reservoir in Nigeria after Kainji dam. The hydropower plant will produce 2,630 GWH of renewable energy(zero carbon) annually and it will be the first Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Dam in Nigeria.INSET: The Hon.
