Following cult-related clashes on Saturday in Unyangala community in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Victor Ere, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of the Council has imposed a dusk-to- dawn curfew in the council area.
The use motorcycles as means of transportation has also been banned until further notice.
Eyewitnesses attributed the death of at least three persons in the community to clashes between rival cult groups.
Uche Secondus, the embattled former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, being quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and his cousin, Tele Ikuru who was Deputy Governor to Chibuike Amaechi, and the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Davis Ibiamu-Ikanya, all hail from from Andoni Local Government.
The deaths caused by the cult incident has been confirmed by the Chairman of Andoni LGA, Victor Ere but he did not give details.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike last week called for an emergency meeting with security chiefs over the upsurge of violence, armed robbery attacks and kidnappings in the state.
As the 19 March rerun legislative election draws near, cult related activities have worsened.
The Rivers APC Chairman, Dr Ikanya also confirmed the incident, accusing Governor Wike of insensitivity to the security of lives and property of Rivers people but prefers to play politics.
He accused the Governor of not condemning the activities of ex-Niger Delta militant, Solomon Ndigbara, who was declared wanted by the military and whose boys allegedly shot at soldiers in Bua-Yeghe in Ogoniland.
