Kano state Police Command recovered prohibited drugs worth N1.2 billion from dealers between October 25 and December 31, 2015.


DSP Magaji Majiya, the Police Public Relations Officer‎ (PPRO), made the statement on Monday in Kano while briefing newsmen on the arrest of nine suspected drug traffickers.


He said that the command arrested 250 suspects with various quantities of drugs within the period under review.







He added that the command also recovered more than one million bottles of Tutolin and Facalin cough syrup within the period.


He said that investigation conducted by the command showed that 96 per cent of consumers of the prohibited drugs were indigenes of Kano state.


Majiya stressed the need for the public to cooperate with relevant authorities to fight drug abuse in the state.


He said that following high rate of rape cases being recorded in the state, the Commissioner of Police had constituted special anti-rape squad comprising female police personnel to gather intelligence and information from the victims.


The PPRO restated the commitment of the command to prosecute anybody who breaks the law no matter their status in the society.
