Salisu Zakar, Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Jigawa, on Sunday said the present administration in the state had trained no fewer than 3,000 teachers across the state .


Zakar disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Dutse.


He said that beneficiaries of the training programme were selected from primary and junior secondary schools in the 27 local government areas in the state.







According to him, the step is to build the capacity of teachers in order to improve standard of education our state.


Zakar said that the government had also concluded plans to recruit 4,500 teachers in the state.


He said that teachers were inadequate in primary and secondary schools across the state, adding that the financial implication of the proposed recruitment had been captured in the 2016 budget of the state.


He also said that the state government had released more than N600 million as counterpart funds to various Federal Government education programmes to enable the state to access necessary funds to improve its basic education.
