Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo
Ahead of Saturday’s re-run election in Southern Ijaw, and other polling units in six local government areas of Bayelsa state, the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation organisation, has raised alarm that former militant leader in Delta State, Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, is being harboured by the State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson at the Government House, Yenagoa.
A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Nathan Egba, dated 5 January, 2016 and made available available to PM NEWS, said the organisation had it from credible sources that the former warlord is being harboured at the government house by the state governor.
“A very credible security source in the Government House revealed that Tompolo is lodged at the Super Lodge 4 with some of his boys to be unleashed on Southern Ijaw and other places like Ekeremor Local Government Area come Saturday.”
The statement urged “security agents in the state to take note of this fact and ensure these PDP thugs are not mobilized to the creeks of Southern Ijaw like they did during the December 5th and 6th elections.
“The action of Governor Dickson because of his selfish political gains has clearly shown the level of desperation of Mr. Dickson,” it noted.
On the allegations by the PDP Restoration campaign organization that former militant leader in the state, Mr. Eris Paul, known as General Ogunboss, launched attack on his people of Peremabiri in Southern Ijaw LGA, Chief Egba, said there was no truth in the story as confirmed by the Joint Task Force, JTF.
The APC Campaign Organisation spokesman alleged that the PDP was spreading falsehood about Peremabiri community as there was no record of attack by any armed group.
The statement also commended the military and other security personnel for being on top of the situation in Southern Ijaw LGA to contain PDP thugs from carrying out similar violence like they did in December 5th and 6th in Oporoma, headquarters of the LGA.
“The importation of armed men from neighbouring states few days to the election by the PDP has again confirmed our fears that Governor Dickson is plotting violent attacks in the course of the Jan 9th. Rerun election.
“The ranting and accusations levelled against APC by Gov. Dickson and his spokesmen is a smokescreen designed to divert attention from the PDP who have imported thugs that are being moved to the creeks to take over various communities in Southern Ijaw LGA,” Egba said.
The statement further alleged that it has become very clear that the only hope of adequate security for the Southern Ijaw voters on Saturday would be the heavy presence of the military to contain the Dickson’s thugs and keep the various communities safe for the exercise.
