It was a mouthful of testimonies on 17 December, as the country managers of the giants’ e-commerce companies in Nigeria, Kaymu, Lamudi and Hellofood, testified to a great deal of improvement in their business in 2015.


The testimony by the e-commerce companies were made at a press conference held at Yaba yesterday, where detailed analyses of their activities were explained. The successes, the challenges as well as the prospects of their business in 2016 were equally analyzed.


Speaking at the press conference was Mr Massimiliano spalazzi, the country manager of Kaymu Nigeria, who expressed his surprise over the boom that Kaymu experienced in 2015. He also explained the list of activities that Kaymu engaged in 2015 and their proposed programs for 2016.


“Kaymu had an interesting 2015, we are happy Nigerians are now very conscious of e-commerce. Explicitly, we launched the Kaymu Village, where buyers and sellers with trusted goods can do business. It is a means of bridging the between online market and offline market. Presently, we have the first Kaymu village in Yaba but we hope to expand our reach to other parts of the country in 2016.


“Another interesting achievement for us was the entrepreneur training we did in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce in Ikeja. Scores of individuals benefited from the initiative and we have been getting good feedbacks from beneficiaries. For 2016, we hope to organize entrepreneur programs in Nigerian universities, which we believe will breed young entrepreneurs and will reduce drastically the rate of unemployment in the country” he said.


He also stated that the hyper-increase in the order for goods they experienced in the just concluded Black Friday Night was a laudable one.


“Kaymu had an amazing Black Friday Night, it was awesome. We received online orders twenty times more than normal for that night. Also, people visited our sites eleven times more than normal for that night alone. It was a great night for Kaymu, we hope to have great night too in 2016” he said.


He added that “we are planning to have a day for indigenous products that are produced in Nigeria, which will look like a replica of Black Friday Night”.


Also speaking at the press conference was the country manager for Lamudi Nigeria, who expressed a great deal of achievement they have made in the real estate business in 2015 as their platform as served as a trusted means for buyers and sellers of properties.


“Lamudi as a platform where buyers and sellers of properties meet has experienced a mouthwatering 2015. This year we have been able to bridge the gap between online and offline users through calls and SMS alerts to agents, with the aim of aiding quick response. This year, we were also able to train developers on how to make use of our online platform which will aid our market” she said.


She added that “I have worked in Ghana for couple of years and now am in Nigeria, there is a huge difference in the business of these two countries. Nigeria is very massive in terms of benefits and challenges compared to Ghana.


“In 2016, we are determined to serve the populace better as we believe that people will always seek apartment for their homes, offices and lots more. We are also working on expanding our reach to other part of the country” she explained.


Also commending the success of e-commerce in 2015 was the country manager of Hellofood, Mr Guillaume Leblond, who vehemently hails 2015 as the best year of their three years operation in Nigeria. He also stated that in 2015, the company has been able to double its customer base and has also transit from a mere market place to a food delivery outlet in Nigeria.


“Hellofod as an online platform where we provide food to customers has achieved huge success this year. Our customer base has doubled this year and delivery of food to our customers has also been swift. Hellofood app is also going viral but we have more people demanding on desktop than mobile as 70% orders food through desktop and 30% orders food through hellofood mobile app.


“Most importantly, we have been able to transit from just a market platform to logistic company. We now have over fifty bikes that deliver food to our customers at the average delivery time of 53minutes” he explained.


He also explained that “Another achievement of Hellofood in 2015 is the technology. Our riders are equipped with smart phone that has hellofood app and map that aids location of customers. We also interact with restaurants on any available food and how fast the food ordered can be made available. For 2016, we will work more on satisfying our customers by upgrading to any trend of technology”.


PM NEWS learnt that Kaymu presently has about five million followers on Facebook, which amount to over 500% increase in 2015. It has also been gathered that these e-commerce companies are working for better activities in 2016, with aim of meeting with the market competition and also to satisfy the need of their customers.
