A private driver whose identity was not yet known overran a motorcycle operator and killed his passenger on the spot in Lagos state, western Nigeria.
The incident happened on Saturday morning at about 6.30 am at Hostel bus stop in Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos.
The driver of a Toyota Avalon car with registration number FST 374 DA crushed the motorcycle passenger identified as A. Ahmed instantly, while the rider of the motorcycle with registration number LAR 897 Q, Ismali Asumo sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Egbe.
The body of the late Ahmed was later recovered and taken to police station at Ikotun division.
The police also recovered the car and the motorcycle that was involved in the accident as exhibits.
When our reporter visited the station, the driver was detained at the cell and the police was making frantic efforts to deposit the corpse at a mortuary for autopsy report.
The cause of the accident was not yet known, though eye witness said the driver who was driving at top speed lost control and ran into the motorcycle rider.
At the station, the DPO was not around to comment on the matter. Officers at the station also declined to comment on the matter.
