President Muhammadu Buhari said on Wednesday in Abuja that the Federal Government has put in place measures to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) return back to their various states during the first quarter of 2016.
He also reserved special praise for Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo who is giving education to children in IDPs camp in the state.
Buhari, who made the statement during his maiden Presidential Media chat, said there were about two million IDPs in different camps across the country.
He said that about N25 billion were realised from some well meaning Nigerians under the Victims Support Fund (VSF) for the development of infrastructure in the North-East zone ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency.

He said the VSF Committee, headed by Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, was set up to ensure that victims of Boko Haram insurgency were properly catered for, especially children, who about 65 per cent were orphans.
Buhari said: “about two million IDPs are in different camps mostly in Borno state and over 75 per cent of them are women and children.
“Over 65 per cent of the children are orphans; some of them do not know where they are; this is how pathetic the situation is.”
The president said that infrastructure had been put in place in some local government areas in Borno to ensure children return to school to avoid losing educational opportunities.
