At least 100 people have been feared dead in Nnewi, Anambra State, following a gas explosion.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred when a truck was discharging gas at a company in the southeastern state of Nigeria on Christmas eve.
Scores of other victims who also suffered severe burns have been taken to hospitals while efforts were ongoing to put out the raging inferno.
The cause of the explosion could not be ascertained at the time of this report as there was no official response to enquiries.
