Liverpool thrash Man City 4-1 at Etihad Stadium

Liverpool

Manchester City’s hope of going top of the English Premier League was promptly dashed by an impressive Liverpool side who comprehensively thrashed their opponents 4-1 away from home.

An own goal from City defender Mangala put the away side on cruise control at the Etihad Stadium. Then Brazilian midfielder who was extremely impressive on the night put his team two goals ahead after a lovely play by his team.

Equally impressive was summer signing, Firminho, and he justified his transfer by adding a third but City was not going to go down without a shout.

Diminutive Argentine forward who only returned from injury, Sergio Aguero curled one past Simon Minoglet but that was the only goal will get on the night.

Manchester City fans showed their frustration and began to depart the stadium but that did not deter Martin Skrtel from scoring a beauty of a goal to give the Merseyside club a commanding 4-1 victory and fire his team to the ninth position on the table while City dropped to third.

Newcomers, Leicester now top the league after a resounding 3-0 victory against Newcastle at St James Park. Jamie Vardy’s tenth consecutive strike for Leicester equalled the record held by former Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy.
