Nigerians have taken to social media platform, Twitter, to react to the statement of the Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU) that bail is free everywhere in Nigeria.
CSP Yomi Shogunle, officer in charge of the CRU stated that “bail is free” in Nigeria, adding that, “Women are equally eligible to stand surety.”
The position of the police has since caused a stir on Twitter, with loads of Nigerians claiming that the position of the Police CRU is not true.
Many stated that policemen still demand money before detained persons or suspects are allowed to leave the station.
In a bid to clear the air, Shogunle will engage Nigerians via a Twitter ‘Q&A’ on PM News, Tuesday, 24 November beginning at 6:00pm.
You can contact the Police CRU via: 08057000001, 0805700000002; SMS Only: 0805700000003; Whatsapp: 08057000003; Facebook: www.facebook.com/npfcomplaint; Twitter: @PoliceNG_CRU; BBM: 58A2B5DE
But in the main time, here are some responses from Nigerians.
