There was mild drama in Adamawa today, Thursday, October 22, as many workers left their offices in Yola, the state capital, to withdraw arrears of salaries and leave grants just paid into their bank accounts.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the state governor, Bindow Jibrilla, confirmed on Monday that he had received N7.2 billion bailout fund by the state, and immediately directed the ministry of finance to quickly commence payment of the arrears of salaries and leave grants to the workers.

And on hearing that their arrears had been paid, the workers besieged banks and ATM points to make withdrawals
While reacting to the new development, one of the workers, Belo Musa said: The whole thing is like a dream come true. I commend the government for this and urge it to sustain the tempo through prompt payment of salaries and leave grants.”
Reports surfaced that immediately some creditors got a wind of the new development, they stormed the bank premises and offices to recover their debts.
One of them, simply identified as Fati, said: “We don’t want to miss out from this opportunity and my appeal to workers that are indebted is that they should show gratitude to God by using this opportunity to settle their debts.”
Even private school owners have started issuing letters to parents to pay fees for their children and wards.
